Every year we are required to provide our customers a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) that provides a description of the previous year's testing results, drinking water standard violations, treatment processes and overall condition of our water system. This report is made in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). Testing is done monthly in accordance with VDH regulations and we are required to meet their standards. If at any time a routine sample is required by VDH to notify our customers of potential health concerns we will contact you according to VDH regulations.

Our pressure is generated by the height of water in the main standpipe storage tank off Old Farm Road and the elevation of your house in relation to the tank. Houses close to the tank are required to have a booster pump to boost pressure. We are required by VDH to provide a minimum of 20 psi. When the tank is full those houses located around the tank will only have 28 psi. Most of the time the tank is full or close to full, however at peak times (6 to 9 AM and 5 to 8 PM) the tank level may drop and thereby reduce pressure at your house. Additionally, if you have a filter installed such as a whole house filter(s) you may experience a pressure drop especially at peak times and if you have a very small micron size filter.
Your water bill is based on a monthly meter reading. If it is higher than normal you may have a leak. The following CHART shows how much water is used / lost due to a leak in your line. This is usually found to be a leaking toilet that can run without making a sound but runs 24/7 if left unattended. You can verify this by using a coloring (ty-d-bol or 2000 flushes) in the tank portion of your toilet and without flushing if you see the blue color appear in the bowl of the toilet indicates water running through.
We recommend a 50 micron, pleated filter. It has the most surface area per size filter. The human eye cannot see particles smaller than 50 microns without the aid of magnification. Other types of filters such as cotton wound and cotton mesh filters have less surface area by which to filter and will clog up quicker and not last as long. A clogged filter will also reduce your pressure and volume of water flow.
Some of our wells contain Iron and Manganese that can discolor the water. The annual
CCR informs you that we treat these wells with a sequestering process that attempts to keep these particles in solution. We also use Chlorination as a disinfectant to kill potential bacteria to keep your water safe to drink. Chlorination has the affect of working against the sequestering process and sometimes will cause the Iron and Manganese to drop out of solution. When it does it will discolor the water. This should clear up with a little flushing but give us a call if after a few minutes it does not clear up.
The CCR is mailed out every year, usually in June and is usually included with your water bill. You can also view it here.
